A problem we've had for a while is that after a post which was previously in moderation status is approved, it doesn't show up in either the "New Posts' list OR our "Recent Posts" widget. Therefore, no one knows to respond to a newbie's post unless they just happen upon the thread. Anyone know of a fix for that?

Probably cached results.
Clear the system cache in the admin cp and see if it updates.MARK.B
