  • Invalid User Specified when changing access masks

Upgraded my forum from 3.7 to 4.2.3 P1. No issues during the upgrade itself, but now I have a major issue with changing user permissions/access masks.

Selecting the user, then scroll down to the forum in question, apply the needed permissions and it comes back with 'invalid user specified', I looked at some other threads regarding this but nothing so far has helped. I don't have suhosin running and even when I disable all hooks in config.php the problem persists.

Really need to get this fixed as rolling back is not an option.

    Thanks,

Any updates on this, I'm happy to pay for support if this can be resolved that way but this is urgent, our whole forum is stuck due to this as we can't add any members.

Ok I managed to resolve this by increasing 'max_input_vars' from the default 1K to 5K, definitely that setting as reverting to 1K causes it to break again. I will tweak this a bit more to suit, hopefully this will help others as I hate finding posts with 'nvm i fixed it' in the last post.

This doesn't happen on a default installation.
            Do you have any addons?

(Note: 'bumping' your thread will only delay responses, as threads are answered in order of last response time. We aren't here 24/7 and when we are, we may be working on other customer issues so replies are not real-time)

I have some addons running but most of them were removed for the upgrade but even when I disabled all of them by unticking all but the base product ones and also disabling products and even using disable hooks in confg.php didn't fix the problem but changing this parameter and having all addons back on again works.

Maybe it's because I have a lot of forums, so the access masks list is very long?

Yes if you have an unusually high number of forums, access masks can use quite a lot of MySQL resources due to the nature of what it does.

Glad you got to the bottom of things,
