  • First Post Displays on Every Page of Thread After Update

    After updating from 4.2.2 to 4.2.3, the first post of a thread displays on top of every page of that thread. How can I turn this off?

    This behaviour is from an add-on.
    Look through your addons and disable anything that looks like it would do this.

      I disabled all add-ons, but no change.
      This started after updating to 4.2.3, it was not happening on 4.2.2...
      Any other ideas?

        There just isn't any way this can happen in a default installation.

        Make sure you disable hooks this way:

        To disable the plugin/hook system open your config.php which can be found in your forumroot/includes directory

        Just below
        Code:
        <?php
        enter
        Code:
        define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

          I also see you're running vBSEO. You shouldn't be, as it's extremely insecure and the company that made it ceased trading some years ago, leaving the many security vulnerabilities unpatched.
          vBSEO had a setting that allowed the first post in a thread to be repeated every page for SEO purposes.

            You're right, when I use the disable_hooks setting, the problem is solved.
            I wonder which plugin causes this...
            I can't find this setting in VBSEO though.

            Is there an elegant way to get rid of VBSEO?

              I would like to know that as well.
              I have it still and looked at the instructions to remove it but have been to scared to attempt it as the whole forum could easily go down.
              Regards
              Trevor
