  • [Forum] Inserting images from remote sites results in an error Dialog - "Invalid URL"

We recently upgraded a site to 4.2.2 from 4.2.0 and are experiencing the problem mentioned in the title.

We also have some other sites running 4.2.2 on different servers with the same problem.

Have cleared the CDN, local browser cache, used the default theme, disabled plugins. etc...No effect.

I found several threads about this from a few years ago, but they seem to have been fixed in VB updates. Not sure why we're seeing it now.

Can you insert your images in this thread? Might be apples-oranges as this forum is vB5, but it would answer the question if there's something wrong with the images or links themselves.

Not only would it be apples and oranges, it really doesn't apply. We run many VB4 forums across different servers, environments, and operating systems. ALL of them are experiencing this problem with all different sorts of images. This problem was widespread in previous versions of VB4 (It was a bug) but it was supposed to have been fixed in newer versions.

Bump. I'd really like to get this issue resolved, especially as it has bug reports dating back several years.

Your webserver's PHP needs cURL at a minimum, but should also have SSL compiled into cURL.

The only difference IIRC between 4.2.2 and 4.2.1''s vurl file are the ability to use or not use curl.
