[Forum] Searching for something with a Hyphen dont work?

Why can't users search for something with a hyphen? Basically if they wanted to search for 45-70 or 30-06 it will not work? Not sure what the ryhm or reason is for it. Thanks!

No error messages, it just comes back no search results. It's the same for periods too. If you try 6.5 it won't search that either. I've rebuilt MySQL so it searches 3 chars, so if I type 357 it works great. But anything with a period or hyphen it don't want to search..

No, as vb's default search wont search for punctuation, another reason to use sphinx.

The - & . will simply be removed, when they are searched for & technically be treated as one word.

Usergroups:
Can Use Boolean Search - Needs to be Yes.
