  • [Forum] database error

    I've been running a forum for a few months. (www.bordercollieforum.nl) It always worked fine, till last week.
    since then i've got mails with database errors.

    Few people can't acces the forum anymore. Other people seems to have no problems.

    The mail looks like this:

    Database error in vBulletin 4.2.0:

    Invalid SQL:

    REPLACE INTO cache
    SET cacheid = 'showgroups.groupcache',
    expires = 1350041168,
    created = 1350030368,
    locktime = 0,

    After this there is a lot of user settings that seems to be okay, till a part what looks like the data is going terrible wrong:

    :\"avwidth_thumb\";s:2:\"60\";s:14:\"avheight_thumb\";s:2:\"80\";s:14:\"filedata_thumb\";s :1985:\"\0JFIF\0\0\0\0\0\0\0;CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 75\n\0C\0 \n

    Does anyone have an idea what's wrong, but more important, how i can fix this?

    Thanks in advance,

      What's the value for your MySQL Packet Size?

      Maybe you can increase this value by yourself or your hoster can do this for you.

        I don't know the max packet size. Thats a value the hoster sets.
        I will mail the error mail to them, maybe they will change it.

        But did the software of the forum have a restriction for how big the packets might be?
        If the hoster increase the value, is it possible that the packets "grow" bigger in time, so we have to go through this again?

            You can find the values: Admin-CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> System Information

            You can optimize your database tables here: Admin-CP -> Maintenance -> Repair / Optimize tables

            Sometimes add-ons like vBSEO need more ressources.
