    I get this error when trying to upload an avatar :

    Warning: tempnam() [function.tempnam]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid/gid is 1008199/1008199 is not allowed to access /shared owned by uid/gid 0/0 in [path]/includes/class_dm_userpic.php on line 204

    Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: Filename cannot be empty in [path]/includes/class_image.php on line 333

    If this is a vhosted account, the host will most likely not be willing to disable this function for you.

    1. Create a new folder called "tmp" in your ftp, doesnt need to be in the public_html/root/httpdocs folder

    2. chmod the tmp folder and set it to 0777 or 1777

    3. In your admincp --> vBulletin Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options --> Safe Mode Upload Enabled to YES, in the box below that, put in the following:
    /tmp (The /tmp may work but, you may need to set the full path to the folder. ie /home/username/tmp)
