  • [Forum] Multiple Linked Issues

    Added to Tracker on 30Aug12 - as yet, no response received.

    This affects both, the forum and the CMS.

    Since about 10 days ago, when trying to access a CMS article, the following message is displayed.
    "An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later. If this error continues to occur, please notify the administrator." Clicking on "try again" then comes up with the following error: "The website cannot display the page http500". Sometimes, clicking refresh bring up "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted" - other times, it just continually displays the http500 message.

    To try to correct this, I ran some of the maintenance options including "General Update Tools" --> "Rebuild attachment thumbnails" and "Rebuild Group Icon Thumbnails" and "Rebuild Avatar Thumbnails".
    After running these:
    1. Many/Most thumbnails in the CMS have disappeared. The Article still shows there is an attachment, but no thumbnail.
    2. Icons used for .7Z and for .SAVF extensions have disappeared.
    3. When replying, the "Remote Server...." (see attachment) message appears. Looking at the actual (customer software support) forum, the message was actually posted. As the customer does not know this, they keep trying to re-post and eventually just send me an unhappy message.
    4. For about a week now, I continually receive email notifications of "New Post/Thread Notification: vBCms Comments" – but no comment has actually been posted! The message itself states that I posted in the vBCms Comments forum. But at that time I was watching football. I believe this is now being sent whenever someone looks at the article.

    The CMS is our company's User Guides for our software and as such, this wiki is a deciding factor if a potential customer will buy, or even try, our software.
    Your urgent support in this matter would be appreciated.

    btw... I've tried creating a new Article and adding a new image but this also does not work. It just displays the image not found symbol instead of a thumbnail.

    In addition,
    1. emails for any new forum posts are not sent.
    2. the groups on the member profile are no longer displayed and a member cannot be assigned to a user group.
    3. customers have reported that they cannot sign-on into the forum... it logs them out immediately.
    Basically, the site is down!!

    Any help with this would be appreciated.

    The tracker is for reporting bugs, not for support.

    I'd suggest putting in a support ticket, including as much details as possible, including admin account/FTP login information in the 'Sensitive Data' box, so we can look into it more closely.
