    [Forum] Problems with Notifications

Hello. I recently upgraded from 4.0.7 to 4.2.0 Patch 2. I've had two major problems as a result:

[Related to added skin. Removed problem.]

Secondly, since the update... One of my user's notifications are just piling up. They will never clear (no matter what style he uses). Only one user out of hundreds of active members is reporting this issue. I cannot recreate it. I've had him clear his cache, cookies, log out, try it on every style, etc.

Any thoughts on how to stop it? Can I manually clear his notifications? Is this a problem on his end?

Thank you in advance for any help! I appreciate your time.

    Check your toplinks_hilite_background variable.

      1) You need to talk to the person who made the style.

      2) He needs to manually deal with them. Are you saying when he deals with friend requests, private messages, etc... they don't zero out? Do you have any notification addons installed?

When he deals with them, they do not zero out. That is correct. I should specify that he is a long-time member. Been on the board for over 2 years, so he does know how to take care of notifications. This is a 4.2.0-related problem.

They started piling up before we ever re-installed our addons. We put our forum back up live with all plugins disabled and then started updating and turning them on one by one. Eventually (well after he reported this problem) we turned on an add-on that adds Quote/Mention notifications into the mix. Those notifications ALSO compounded. Disabling that addon doesn't help his problem.

Have him select all of his pms and then mark them as read (even if they are already) and see if that works.

I apologize for the bump, but does anyone else have any ideas about how to clear notifications for a member who has them 'stacking up'? It is unresolved.

Did they do what John suggested above?
              Vote for:

              - Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe (vB6)
              - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)

                That suggestion produced no change.

Plus, the Rep/VM notifications are stacking up as well, so it's not limited to PMs.

Disable all your addons. Clear the system cache. Check your tables to make sure none of them need to be repaired. Run the General Update tools.
