  • [Forum] htaccessn - cannot ban spam ip's

I have spam on my forums and wondered why for weeks why they was coming back and spamming again, I had banned them on settings and user banning options, ip and host name, but also saw that nothing is writing to my .htaccess

I have changed the write permissions, still no success is there any thing I should be aware of ?

Or how do I add them manually ?

    Regards Si

This is out of the scope of vBulletin, but you can use this to generate an .htaccess file that will disallow the IPs you specify from the server.

Temporarily give up banning IP addresses. There are too many of them.

Make some good questions and answers for the registration.
The bots cannot join,so they cannot spam.

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

Neat trick that I did... I ask a simple question that's got 2 answers.

Q: What is the owner Real Name or Nickname? (Hint)

So what happens is most bots can't answer the question and the human spammers don't want to to bother clicking the hint most times. So in 3 years of vBulletin I've only had 7 spammers. Pretty good I'd say.
