    [CMS] Banning IP addresses

Is it possible to ban several ranges of IP addresses at once? Say I wanted to ban all the IP addresses between 195.5.0.0 and 195.5.31.255 do I have to make a long list starting with 195.5.0., 195.5.1., 195.5.2. and so on til I reach 195.5.31 or can I just add something like 195.5.0 - 195.5.31. and be safe in the knowledge that VB will know the ban everything in between?

If this can't be done in VB's banning options can it be done in something like .htaccess?

    Thanks in adavnce

    Pete

PS Yes, I am being hammered by the Ukrainian A-holes on the end of that IP range and several other ranges all belong to the same Telco. My logs are filling up with these guys constantly hitting my CMS. For what reason I do not know. We are not a political site, just a small hobby site dedicated to modelling! WGO shows them as constantly trying to access www.domain.com/forum/WOLPATH. What are these guys trying to do?

Yes, you can ban a range of IPs using a wildcard.

Go to Banning Options in the AdminCP and under the IP banning section, put something like 195.5.*

However, it's best to ban IPs through htaccess, which you can do a quick Google-search for how to do.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I thought about using wildcards but the wildcard option will also ban everything above 195.31.255.255 and a lot of those aren't even in the Ukraine. So the Wildcard option is like taking a sawn-off shotgun when I need a scalpel! I'll look into the .htaccess stuff.

PS - I think I'm getting a WOLPATH location because I banned their IP address and they're still trying to access but not getting to where they want to go!
