There is no option for forum threads block to show random threads, currently you have:
- New Started - Newly started threads will display first
- New Replied - Newly replied threads will displayed first
- Most Replied - Threads with most replies will display first
- Most Viewed - Threads with most views will display first
You can create a forum block by going to your 'Forums & Moderators' section in admincp:
Forum Blocks Manage -> [Add Block] -> (forum threads)
There are lots of tutorial and articles here, you may want to surf:

I know I don't have an options. But I have possibility to add. As far as I remember anything about pure randomisation it has to be a couple of lines of code. This is why I'm asking. Let's say in wp, the one of the first thinks blogger does, it's adding a random posts into sidebar, there are dozens of code for that. it's Good for SEO. I'm surprised how little code was written for sidebar's blockComment

Well, you may create your own code but you need to take care of the efficiency of fetching random rows of MySQL.
If you want also you can post this as a suggestion in JIRA tracker. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns
