You need to purchase the branding free option.

Not just to remove the version number you don't.

Thanks for the mod, but it has to be default option on vB IMO. Anything else I used so far has it, basic but vital as a helmet on front line.

It isn't a default option and nor is it likely to be. It is easy enough to do, either with that simple modification, or by manually editing a phrase.

Note that it is incorrect to think that not displaying a version number will protect you from hackers.

Mark. B just like I said: helmet will not protect you from 7.62 fired by a professional sniper, nothing will stop a pro hacker hacking into your forum if someone that knolegebal would care to do so. But helmet is good enough to protect from flying all over shrapnel. Most of this defeice hacking are being done just by some %^&*£s who typed into goggle "vbulletin 3.7.x" found it and checked if the owner of that board was late with latest patch and hacked into. This could be a time in-between the report of a hack of new version and vBteam fixing it as well. I don't even want to start on a hacks installed. I know it's easy to do it manually but it's starting to seem there to many things have to be done manually.

If you are on 3.7 then I would strongly recommend an upgrade to at least 3.8.7.

It's not an option many have requested but you could always raise it as an improvement request in the tracker.

Do be aware you can remove the version number but not the rest of the copyright.

The option in vBulletin to remove the version number is to edit the phrase, powered_by.
