    [Forum] How do I remove the basic search field

    Hello Community!

    I already use a Google search on my site, and would like to remove the basic search field from my forum (leaving only the advanced search link). How do I do this?

    Thank you!

    Style Manager -> edit template -> navbar

    remove this line:
    <span class="textboxcontainer"><span><input type="text" value="" name="query" class="textbox" tabindex="99"/></span></span>
    and save your template

        Alternatively you can add this to additional.css:

        Code:
        #navbar_search {
        display: none !important;
        }
        However that will move the "Advanced Search" link up as well, if you wish it to remain in the same location then add this as well to additional.css:

        Code:
        .navbar_advanced_search {
        margin-top:26px !important;
        }

          Hello TheLastSuperman, that seems like a better option as I had to add a couple <br> to the file suggested by AliMadkour. HOWEVER, it didn't work, I still see the basic search form . Also, my additional.css file was blank, is that normal?

            additional.css is blank by default, given what its name is .

              Thank you Thunderbird, any idea why the solution provided by TheLastSuperman didn't work?

                Hmm that has me baffled unless your on a much older version but then... still I'm pretty sure the same definitions were used back then... let's see, since additional.css is giving you troubles per say try adding that to the very BOTTOM of the vbulletin-chrome.css template then saving, does that now show the elements as desired?

                I'm still curious as to why your additional.css is not being properly parsed though... you are editing theses templates within the style in question correct? For example if this is a custom style "Custom Style" your not editing templates in another style such as "Default Style" are you?

                  Hello TheLastSuperman, adding the code to the very bottom of vbulletin-chrome.css didn't work either.

                  The only template I have installed is the default one so I guess there's no way I am making a mistake in the file that I am modifying. My vBulletin is vBulletin 4.1.5 Patch Level 1 and I am using the Spanish language.

                    Hello, since changing the additional.css and vbulletin-chrome.css files didn't work, I went back to AliMadkour's solution and thought I'd leave it like that, however there is a problem with his solution too, as the right-most buttons on the navbar are not clickable, apparently the search layer sits on top of the right portion of the navbar. So I really need to go back to TheLastSuperman's solution and make it work, could someone give me any suggestions as to why it hasn't worked? What am I doing wrong?

                      Ok, I've been messing around with the css and what I need is to tell .globalsearch to show it's contents a little further below where it actually is, so that it allows clicking on my right-most links in the navbar. Please help, you can see what I mean by going here and trying to click on the right-most links in the navbar ("Lideres" and "Blogs").

                      Thank you
