  • [Forum] 404 Error on every page

    Hey,

we got a big problem with our vBulletin.

We tried to install vbSEO and i don´t work.

After all we deistall all files, rewrite rules addon and all the stuff.

Now the whole vBulletin is not running.

Every php file is getting an 404 error!

    • the old backuped .htaccess is activated
    • a full backup database also don´t work
    • no php file work ... images work
    • php files external mods like arrowchat admin works - incl. db access of this tool.
    • server is restartet
    • all caches including bitfields are reloaded
    • htaccess works because rewrite von www.domain.com to domain.com works

We don´t know what we can do!

Everything is like is was before we start the update and now the site don´t work.

Now we are overwriting all vb core files.

    Any more ideas???

Make sure you have uploaded all files for vBSEO.

What do you have set as the Friendly URL type? (vBSEO will change that when installing just so your aware, it will not revert the setting when uninstalling.)

      > AdminCP > Settings > Options > Friendly URLs

      What is your set as?

If it's working on https but not http, it could be a httpd config issue.

(I know I broke a lot of sites on my server in the process of getting port 443 working.)

          Thanks for you help.

Finally we solved it. We think it was a inconsistency between htaccess and vhost.conf. Regulary our rules are in the vhost.conf but we think vbseo has a problem with it and disabling vhost was the only way to solve it for now!

vBSEO rules can go in the httpd config... if the server was set to not use htaccess, and the rules were not added to the conf, then yeah - it would have been like trying to run vBSEO without any rewrite rules.

We solved by deleting and creating new vhost.conf.

              Httpd restarts don t work.
