  • [Forum] High memory and time consumption for display of long post with many links

    Hi,

one of my members has created a very long list with a lot of links in it. This post can`t be displayed any more: when users want to view the thread, they run into an 500 server error. I think this is because vBulletin needs to much time and/or memory to parse the bbcode with all the links in it. I pasted the post into a text file that you can view here:
    http://www.wunderkessel.de/fileadmin.../etiketten.txt

I raised the php execution time to 60 seconds but that still isn`t enough.

To be honest, it doesn`t happen very often that someone posts something that long and the list could easily be splitted into several posts. But I still would like to know if the parser couldn`t be optimized or execution times higher than 60 seconds are recommended for vBulletin.

thank you - all the best,
    Sacha

Can you post a link to the thread/post in question? I would prefer to see this in action myself - thanks!

yes, I just pasted the list into a new post via phpMyadmin:

      http://www.wunderkessel.de/forum/tes...ml#post1210116

U can view it via the print view though:
      http://www.wunderkessel.de/forum/tes...ist-print.html

but the normal view causes this 500 server error.

What happens if you disable your third party addons and modifications including vbseo?

thank you Zachery, I found a little amazon link converting plugin. I think I found it somewhere on .org and here is the source code:

          http://www.wunderkessel.de/fileadmin...ns_amazon.phps

that causes the problem. When I remove it, the link list is loaded without a problem. Obviously the code of the plugin has to be improved so it can process long lists more efficiently.
