[Forum] Merging two vBulletin sites

I administer vBulletin site for a car club. Another car club that also has a vBulletin site is going to be merged into our larger organization. As part of this process I am upgrading our site to the latest vBulletin release. The other site is already running vBulletin 4.x. I hope this gives enough background information to answer a few question.

1. How do we merge the database? I understand that users are given numeric IDs. How are users with the same ID handled?
2. What is your suggested plan to achieve our goal?
3. Are there any things we should do prior to the merger to prep our site/database?

Use Impex to merge the two sites. The imported users will be given a new user ID so you don't need to worry about duplicates.

To make the move more reliable have both running the same version of vBulletin. Both databases need to be on the same server and if attachments are in the filesystem, make sure that they're copied to the same server as the target site.
