  • [Forum] Can i still retrieve the whole database without vps backend access?

I only have FTP access, and owner administrator access to my website. (My account is account number 1 on the site)

The forum I have is stored on a shared VPS server where I'm not provided backend cp access. Wondering -- is there a way I can copy my DB (i'm trying to move to a different host on my own).

Or should I get something like a backup plugin to do this?

Much thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I write some PHP that does a sqldump, upload it, run it, then FTP the result from there.
Maybe chunk up the exports into pieces.

    Or... http://www.phpmybackuppro.net/

Paul's database backup mod on vbulletin.org would be the easiest way IMO.

mysqldumper is another good choice. Follow the install and setup instructions and you're good to go.
