  • [Forum] Has something changed with hashing passwords?

    I have software which connects to my website to check credentials using the method which has always worked:

    Code:
    $pass = md5(md5($pass). $salt);
    However since I have upgraded from an older version of vb4 (I think it was 4.1.5) to version 4.1.9 it doesn't seem to work and returns the wrong password.

    What changed in regards to this?

    I don't think it's my PhP code because for starters it was working perfectly for months up until I upgraded, and secondly it returns the correct salt, just doesn't give the same hash when using the above code snippet using the correct plain text password and the salt from the user table.

      Are you trying to be smart? How does that even remotely answer or help my issue?

        Nothing with password hashing has changed.

          Hmm any idea what could be causing the hashed password not to match? It was working up until I upgraded and it asked me to changed my password.

            Addons or an expired password that you ignored.
