When a user subscribes for a thread in the forum and recieves an email the link to the thread is http://www.site.co.uk/forums/http://...t?goto=newpost. The system adds "Forum URL" in front of the link instead of the thread itself.

Is this in English or another language? Are the phrases all default? Have you tried disabling plugins to see if you have the same problem? Are all your files default (Maintenance > Diagnostics > Suspect File Versions)?
