  • Quick search result URL question

I run several sports websites, but just one forum for all sports. I'm trying to set up, in my baseball (for example) site's navigation menu a URL called "Latest Posts", but have the new posts (i.e. last 7 days) that are listed come from just that sub forum. What is wrong with this URL:

    http://mysite.com/search.php?do=process&forumchoice[]=41-Fantasy-Baseball-Forum&searchdate=7&sortby=lastpost&showposts=1

The Forum ID I also tried this:

    http://mysite.com/search.php?do=process&forumchoice[]=41&searchdate=7&sortby=lastpost&showposts=1

I also tried "getdaily" instead of "process" in the URL, but that didn't work either.

    This VBulletin 4.2.1

    Thank you

I got knocked off the front page without an answer, so I'm giving this a 'bump'. I know this is a fairly easy question because I'm so close to nailing it - I'm sure most of you know the answer

Results as posts: (this is the code to put in the template)
      PHP Code:
      search.php?{vb:raw session.sessionurl}do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post&days=7&showposts=

Results as threads: (this is the code to put in the template)
      PHP Code:
      search.php?{vb:raw session.sessionurl}do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post&days=

If you want to just test it in the address bar:

      Results as posts:
      PHP Code:
      yourdomain.com/search.php?do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post&days=7&showposts=

      Results as threads:
      PHP Code:
      yourdomain.com/search.php?do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post&days=

That gives me all threads from last 7 days.

        http://yourdomain.com/search.php?do=...um_Post&days=7

But specifying the Forum ID isn't working (i.e. not narrowing the search to that particular forum):

        http://forums.dobbersports.com/searc...=7&forumchoice[]=41-Fantasy-Baseball-Forum

Where "41" is the forum ID. I tested with and without the -Fantasy-Baseball-Forum part. Is forumchoice[] not the right term? I found it in this forum here, but perhaps it was for VB3

          PHP Code:
          search.php?do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post&days=7&forumchoice[]&showposts=
Remove "&showposts=1" if you want results as threads.

Sorry Mark, I didn't put this right.

I don't want PHP, because this will be a URL that I put in a menu on my baseball site. If I use your suggestion from your first post, I get 7 days results (good) from the baseball section (good) but also from the hockey section (bad) and football section (bad). The Forum ID for the baseball section is 41 (or maybe it's 41-Fantasy-Baseball-Forum, I'm not sure which).

            Thanks!

Sorry, was swamped for a bit.
Okay I put this in and it didn't work. I had to add http://forums.dobbersports.com in front of it or else it stayed on the baseball site. But it gave the message "sorry no matches" both with me logged in and logged out. There have been several posts in the last four days (and this search covers seven days). I also tried this with the showposts part removed, same result. Did I do something wrong?

              Thanks again

Any solution? The link is in right now at http://baseball.dobbersports.com and if you hover over the top menu until the options drop down, click 'latest posts'. That's the link you gave

                Thank you sir!

It's not php code, I just used php tags to display it.

                    Try this:
                    Code:
                    search.php?do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post&days=7&forumchoice[]=41&showposts=1
