So, all of the sudden the forum goes down. There is no content.php directory on server. What could be the problem?
    Please help.

Yeah, I would still like to know what went wrong. Any ideas?

First, content.php is a file, not a directory. There isn't supposed to be a content.php directory. There needs to be a content.php file.

If the content.php file has been deleted you should contact your host (or anyone else with file deletion ability on your server.) vBulletin software does not have the ability to delete contnet.php even if something goes wrong. The code just doesn't exist.

Is there anyone else who you have given FTP access to? Most likely explanation is an accidental deletion but your host may be able to confirm when it was deleted and by who.

Nevermind- Looking at the site in your signature- I wound up at-

Yes, your site was hacked. Your files were edited. I bet code was added to the very top of the files.

You will need to do several things- first is to replace all your files with clean copies (re-download whatever version you were running and re-upload fresh copies)

Then follow the suggestions in these blogs for cleaning up and securing your forums-
