  • New members denied member access; I'm baffled!

Two new members have messaged me that they get an error msg when trying to post. Their avatar space IDs them as New Members. Yet they don't show up in the member directory. I have no idea what's snarled up or how to unravel it. Please help!

Here's one: Hi, I keep getting the "you do not have permission to access this page." when participating or replying on posts or when making new posts. This is despite joining since over a month ago. So far, I can only read posts.

Knock knock, anybody home? What happened to the great support I used to get on this site?

Do you allow guests to view profiles?
Do you have it setup that admins get email notifications for new users?

I'm using vB 4.1.0. I understand the software, and computers in general, on only the most basic level. I've searched the Admin page and can't find options for either of the terms you mention, so I guess the answer is, I don't know! Oh, and no, I do not get email notifications for new users.
I'm not stupid, just uneducated... and vB is kind enough (and simple enough) to let me run a successful site anyway!

So... it's been ten days since my OP and I still have no suggestions.

Still waiting, growing older. Maybe someone will notify me if & when I get a reply? [email protected]

                  Are your moderating users?

You should verify that user moderation is set to off.

Are you really using 4.1.0? You need to upgrade to 4.2.2 as soon as possible.
