  • [Forum] Issue with showing new post in sections...

Whenever I load my forum for the first time in a day, the icon on the side of all the sections with show that there are new posts in that section. After looking through one or two posts or after just being on the forum for a while, all the icons showing new posts will be gone, and it will look as if there are no new posts. I don't read them or mark forums as read, so I don't know what is causing the glitch.

What is your setting in AdminCP > Settings > Options > General Settings > Thread/Forum Read Marking Type

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

And what is your session timeout set to in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Cookies and HTTP Header Options > Session Timeout? And are you checking the Remember Me box when you login? It sounds like you could be reaching the session timeout limit and then the posts are all marked as read.

Are you using a default style? Do you have any modifications? Do you have the same problem here?

I am using a style I just made in the generator in the Admin CP. I am using Chatbox, Spam-O-Matic, and skimlinks plugins. It did this on the default style with no plugins installed if I recall correctly. I don't know if it is doing it here too. I don't spend extended amounts of time on this forum. Just research what I am looking for, and then leave.

I am experiencing this icon issue on 4.2, I shall try the Session Timeout thing to see if it works, good advice Lynne, thank you.
