  • [CMS] vb 4.1.7 upgrade problems

So I upgraded to 4.1.7 yesterday am noticing two problems:

1 - Article preview images are not showing up on the main CMS page. When you click on the article, the images are there and show up fine - but on the main page, a red X is displayed where the images used to be.

2 - For some reason the page count display in the forum is displaying some gibberish numbers underneath. See the attached image.

I didn't run into any problems during the upgrade or make any changes to any settings so I'm confused as to why this is happening.

    Any ideas?

To troubleshoot this, first download a fresh copy of the vBulletin ZIP file from the Members Area then reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

Next, disable all Products except the vBulletin Blog and vBulletin CMS (Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Disable) AND uncheck all the plugins except those related to the vBulletin Blog and vBulletin CMS by (Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager). You must do BOTH of those steps in order to disable all non vBulletin Modifications.

If you have vbseo installed, you must disable this via it's own control panel AND remove any htaccess you added to your .htaccess file for it.

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

Do you have the same problem?

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

Ok, tried that, both problems still persist.

Further, if I delete an attachment from an article, then reupload it, it does appear on the main page properly. So this appears to only be happening with older attachments that are uploaded (attachments that are linked display properly).

OK, more info. The image problem is solved, but the page display within threads is still messed up.

Can we get a link to see the showthread.php problem?

Do you really want all the page numbers showing like that? Go to AdminCP > Settings > Options > general settings > Number of Pages Visible in Page Navigator - default is "3", try that. And in "Relative Jumps for Page Navigator", default is "10 50 100 500 1000", so try that. Now see if you still have the same problem.
