I am going to take a look at your ticket. Also when did you leave cleveland?!

No responses to the trouble ticket today, and this thread remains unanswered. I understand that this is a "we've never see this before" problem. As I said, there's no problem on the sandbox site, which is on the same server. It's the live site where the redirect doesn't work.

If this problem can't be solved, please just let me know so I can restore my old site, get it back online, and pursue other upgrade options.

    As per https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/blank_pages -

    > 1. You did not upload the vB files correctly. Reupload the vB non-image files and make sure you upload these in ASCII format and that you overwrite the ones on the server. M

    Did that. Nothing.

    > 2. You have extra space or lines in your config.php file. Make sure there is no whitespace or extra lines in config.php either before the <?php or after the ?>. [Note: Beginning with 3.6.3 the trailing ?> was removed.]

    No extra spaces or lines.

    > 3. If this is happening on the forum home page only, then you may have an empty index.html or index.htm file in that directory. Delete it.

    No index.html or index.htm.

    > 4. You have a bad plugin installed.

Did that early on. No effect on the index.php pages.

    > 5. The servername setting in config.php is wrong. Doublecheck this setting. 99% of the time, 'localhost' is correct:

    Servername setting is correct.

    > 6. Your PHP has magic_quotes_sybase turned on. You have to turn this off. On *nix systems you can do this by creating an .htaccess file with this content and placing it in your main forum directory:

Magic quotes is off. Again, other /php pages display,. just not the stub /forums/index.php and blogs/index.php.

    > 7. [For multiple white pages] You have added code to your header, headinclude or phpinclude templates that is no longer functional.
[For white pages in a select area] You have added code to one of your templates that is causing this problem.

I'm using the same header as on my sandbox site. No issues on the sandbox site.

    > 8. You have a corrupted template. Repairing the template table may help:

    template Check Status: OK
    template Optimize Status: OK

    > 9. You have GZIP enabled. Try turning GZIP off here:

    No effect.

    > 10. Sometimes this can also be caused when PHP has the 'display_errors' function turned off. So instead of displaying the actual error so you can see what is wrong, you get a blank page. Look at your phpinfo page and if 'display_errors' is Off or '0',

    display_errors On On

    > 11. Check your phpinfo page to see if suhosin is installed as a module.

    suhosin not installed.

    > 12. This can be caused by a bug in PHP 5.2.5:

    Running PHP 5.2.13.

    > 13. This can also be caused by a memory_limit setting in php.ini that causes the server to time out before displaying the page.

    The blank pages display instantly.

    > 14. If the script producing this problem is showgroups.php, then you may have too many usergroups for this.

    It's not showgroups.php. It's forums/index.php and blogs/index.php from do_not_upload.

    > 15. Check the file and directory permissions. Although this can differ by server, in general the directories should be chmod'd to 755 (-rwxr-xr-x) and files to 644 . If any are set to 777 (-rwxrwxrwx) then this could result in blank pages.

    drwxr-xr-x 2 4096 Oct 24 03:46 forums/
    drwxr-xr-x 2 4096 Oct 24 03:50 blogs/

chmod to 644 in /forums and /blogs had no effect.

    > 16. Check your .htaccess file for any rewrite rules that may be effecting the page(s) you are having the issue with.

    .htaccess is disabled.

    > 17. There is a bug in PHP 5.3.5 that can cause white pages during search and possibly other functions.

    Again, PHP 5.2.13.

  • /forum and /blog stub index.php not working - blank pages

I've got a ticket submitted, but after spending a good portion of the morning and afternoon (in the Eastern US) diligently working through a particularly brutal upgrade to vB 4.1.7, the vB techie working with me probably went home for a well-deserved break.

Anyhow, there's still a few outstanding issues I'm having with my site before I can take it live again. The biggie - I moved the forum/CMS to root, and created new /forums and /blogs directories, uploading the contents of do_not_upload/forum and do_not_upload/blog to new stub directories. While it worked on my sandbox site, the new forums/index.php and blogs/index.php URLs don't work on the live site. The result: a blank page. However, according to the logs, there's nothing wrong.

    123.456.789.012 - - [24/Oct/2011:17:41:47 -0400] "GET /forums/ HTTP/1.1" 200 - "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1"
    123.456.789.012 - - [24/Oct/2011:17:42:19 -0400] "GET /forums/index.php HTTP/1.1" 200 - "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1"

    Looks like this:

forum.php works for accessing the forum area, though.

    Settings in contact details are:

    Forum URL http://www.[mysite].org
Always use Forum URL as Base Path: YES
    Forum Component URL http://www.[mysite].org/forums
    Blog Component URL http://www.[mysite].org/blogs
URL of your home page http://www.[mysite].org
    CMS Component URL http://www.[mysite].org

Similar settings worked perfectly on the sandbox site.

.htaccess has not changed. Removing it didn't make any difference.

So, any ideas why index.php doesn't work?
