  • [Forum] Using htaccess in vB to block IP addresses?

    Greetings -

My latest question is about the use of an htaccess file in the root directly of the site - the vB folder. Can I use this to block certain IPs which I don't even want to be able to issue a query to my site at all?

What I mean is that I don't want this IP from being able to even request any files from my server - as I have denied them in the IP blocking, but there are 40 of them from this one IP - all getting error notices - and I don't them even getting that far (as they are filling up my sql access and causing sql errors).

Can I put an htaccess file into the vB root? Will it do what I want it to do?

    Thank you!

Yes, you can use .htaccess to block access. This would eliminate vBulletin from any actions of this sort.
