  • [Forum] insert Youtube video button in editor no longer working

I am using vBulletin 4.1.3 and until a couple of days ago members had no problems inserting YouTube videos into their posts.

I haven't made any changes to the site and suddenly it stopped working. Now only the url shows.

I discovered the part in red below is missing in the link:
I searched the forums and discovered that a later "includes\xml\bbcode_video_vbulletin.xml" file may fix the problem so I swapped that file for the one in vBulletin 4.1.5 and than put the forum in debug mode and rebuilt the video bbcode link in the admincp.

But unfortunately there is no difference. Tried again with the xml file from version 4.2.1 but still no go.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

    Thanks, Mel

Firstly, it's not a good idea to use mismatched file versions so please put the old one back.

Please try disabling all plugin and creating a new default style (with no parent), and see if this fixes the issue.

      Thanks I've sorted this….

The issue was with the url of the YouTube video I was having problems with (not the one above). There was an s in the first part of the url that was the problem. https://

When I removed the s and made it http:// it worked ok when the post was saved.

By searching vBulletin I discovered where the issue had been fixed in version 4.1.5 and they gave instructions in the bug jira on what code to change in that file. Rather than modify the file I changed it for the 4.1.5 version. I note at the top of both the files it does not state what version of vBulletin it is for so would have to assume its compatible with all.

I must not have rebuilt the video bbcode link in the adminc properly because its working just fine for me now when I re did it with or without the s in the url.

Thanks for looking at this for me
