First, make sure you have the WYSIWYG Editor enabled here:

Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Message Posting Interface Options -> Enable Clickable Message Formatting Controls

Then make sure you have selected the Enhanced editor in your user Settings:

Settings -> Edit Options -> Message Editor Interface -> Enhanced Interface

If you see the editor without the images, then this means you have not uploaded the 'images/editor/sprite.png' file. You need to do that.

Then make sure you have all BB Code options enabled here:

Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> BB Code Settings -> Enabled Built-in BB Codes

    And have set this:

Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> BB Code Settings -> Allow BB Code in Non Forum Specific Areas -> Yes

Note: If you have any custom styles, then you also need to upload or copy the 'images/editor/sprite.png' file to the directory(ies) used for your custom styles.

You can check for the correct directory in the ImagePath Stylevar settings:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> style name -> StyleVars -> ImagePath

Also please note that custom BB Codes can also interfere with the new editor. You may need to remove those if you have any.

Yes, I have everything you mentioned. I saw the editor awhile ago when i upgraded my forum but suddenly it disappeared.

It shouldn't disappear of it's own accord. To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

Next, disable all plugins.Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php:

        define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

Do you have the same problem?

I created a new style and they still dont show up, when i upgraded to the latest version of VB i overwrote ALL of my image files. I disabled all of my plugins and it still does not show up. There was really no weird suspect file versions but lots showed up because i started my forum with the 1st released edition of VB 4.0 and have been upgrading each iteration.

Which browser are you using? Have you tried with other browsers?

You do have some custom BB Codes which could interfere with this:

                  http://goodereader.com/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode

                  You also still have add-ons.

Yes, i had disabed all plugins and it did not work so i enabled them off. To help troubleshoot I put them back on. The BB Code has ALWAYS been on my forum and worked fine in the past.

At this point I suggest you create a test forum. This would be a brand new install with a new database so you can at least verify the editor works properly with a new install. Creating a test forum is very easy to do.

As I said some custom BB Codes have interfered with the new editor. The next step is to remove your custom BB Codes.

Ok since you mentioned the youtube bb code that i have been using since day 1 might be messing it up i killed my BB code and with it all the 300 + custom videos i did on my forum. The options to change bold, fonts, and everything else is still not showing.
