  • PHP PCRE question

Is there a reason why ASCII chars 32-127 PCRE looks like ^((?!&#\d+;)[\x20-\x7E])+$ and not ^([\x20-\x7E])+$ I'm not seeing why the (?!&#\d+;) needs to be included.

    Thanks

Yes, specifically in User Registration Options -> Username Regular Expression. I see in the Admin Help for that field it says that ^((?!&#\d+;)[\x20-\x7E])+$ will allow ascii 32-127. I was wondering why it needs this piece: (?!&#\d+;). Wouldn't those characters be included already in ^([\x20-\x7E])+$
