  • [Forum] Search not working

    Hello,

    I installed a brand new forum vbulletin 4.1.3 (not yet online) but the search function is not working.
    I have another forum vbulletin 3.8 on the same server, and the search is working perfect.

    Firefox is trying to download search.php and other browsers can't load search.php

    cleared browser cache, uploaded all files again and did the upgrade.
    Still the same problem.

    Another thing i saw whas that in Admin CP - Settings - Search Type i only have the choice "DB Search"

    I use mysql 5.5 and php 5.3

    Please help, i don't know anymore.

    Thanks!

      Thanks Trevor, i'm Glad you found the problem.

      I post the solution here if someone has the same problem they can find it.

      Quote from trevor
      It appears that a Bug in PHP5.3.6 is causing this:

      http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=51425

      As a temporary fix, edit the /vb/search/criteria.php file and replace this part:

      if (method_exists($this->search_type, 'get_display_name'))
      {
      $hashstrings[] = 'type:' . $this->search_type->get_display_name();
      }
      else
      {
      $hashstrings[] = 'type:' . strval($this->search_type);
      }

      with:

      $hashstrings[] = 'type:' . strval($this->search_type);

      The other option as you've not opened your site yet is to downgrade PHP to 5.3.5 or lower.

          You should start your own thread about this issue. If it were *exactly* the same as the OP's problem, then it would have the same solution.

          Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.
