How do I change the max width of an image in forum post and post preview?

I'm doing this off the top of my head and it's been a long night so bear with me.
In the stylevars either in forum or postbit there are 3 size control stylevars. I use the midsize stylevar to control the size of the image in the posts. Mine is set to 5 pixels inside the border of the page it's shown on. As for the preview I don't recall any of the controls having an effect on the size. I always get the full sized image there but the resized one in the actual post.
