[Forum] Promote to article

Hi guys, my question today is about Promoting to article. When I open a thread and i want to to appear on the homepage as an article, I can do it but I cant make it like I have seen on other sites with them being one in the same thread. I want to article on the homepage to connect a person to the thread on the forum. The way it is now, if some comments on the homepage article it doesnt appear in the forums thread, and if someone responds in the forum thread it will not appear in the article unless I also go and promote it as an article.

On the sites I have seen it correct, when you click an article you are have the path being "Forum> Housing> Roofing> What are the best shingles?" , for example, but on my home page it stays as "Home> What are the best shingles?"

Sorry, there is no function to do this. This requires modifying the code. We cannot officially support code modifications or forums running modified code, however you can try searching or asking for help with this over at www.vbulletin.org.

I realize this is an old thread but this brings up a question.

If I take a forum thread and "promote to article", when someone posts a comment to the article or to the thread they don't update each other, in other words they aren't connected? That doesn't seem logical to me and would result in two places for the same topic. I don't want to move or get rid of the thread but would like to feature it as an article on the front page.

If this is the case then how are people handling this?

Also the second question is where can I find an explanation of the choices when you promote to article. I searched in the vB manual but couldn't find anything.
