  • [Forum] Intermittent database connect errors

    We are self-hosting the latest version of vBulletin (4.1.1) talking to a MySQL 5.1.47 database. For several weeks we have been getting intermittent database connect errors. The error is always from the same template with the same message:

    Database error in vBulletin :
    mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2003): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'IP-address-of-server' (110)
    /{web-root}/forums/includes/class_core.php on line 1305

    The database log is showing no errors or problems. Both hosts are virtual machines on the same physical server so I doubt very much it's a network issue. I should add that we have been running three instances of Wordpress on this same MySQL database for 6 months with zero problems.

    Is there anything that can be done to resolve these errors? Is there some vBulletin or MySQL tuning parameter that needs to be tweaked?

    Thank you,

    Michael

    This is definitely a connection issue between those servers. This will have to be resolve on the server level.
