To start, I'm not too familiar with programing and whatnot but you guys have helped me get my forum running (miracle) so let me first thank you all for that. I'm running 4.0.2
Currently though I'm dealing with a problem. My forum is quite slow seeing as how it's a local forum. Small group, low activity. I've had over 30 members sign up in the last week and a half which is unheard of. I've been tracing IP's and they come from all over the world and are NOT local. The user names and emails look like bull **** too.
Now at the moment I've had none of them post anything bad or even off topic. Truth be told, they haven't posted anything at all. But I'm waiting to hit the index one day and realize it's all been overrun with spam and porn.
I guess my question is what should I be doing from a management standpoint? Is there some security thing I should put in place? My forum is quite small and I have no idea why it's getting attention at the moment.
