    [Forum] Server Load problem

    Hello!

Since we have 4.0.8 the server is working at full capacity, 90-99% CPU. It's a dedicated server, dual Xenon with 4GB RAM so there is no motive to use all it's resources. Before we had 3.8.5 and at 600-900 users online we used max 40%-50%, now with 500-600 users online we use all the server-'s CPU and the forum is working very bad, usually not loading the pages and we have to wait up to 30-60 seconds to load a page. We tried to find out what the problem is, we deactivated all the plugins, we recounted all, we repaired and optimize the tables, all it seems fine, except that the server is full... this does not seem normal to me.

We are not flooded, the server works fine, we already checked all the processes and it seems just fine. We also tryed to use server load option (NIX) but it's not doing anything good, keeps half of our daily users away.

    Any suggestions?

is your mysql up to date?
Have you looked for any files/scripts that you don't recognize?
Is vbulletin the only thing running on your server?

We have a dedicated server, it runs only with the forum, nothing else.

      PHP Version 5.2.14
      Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS)
      MySql Client API version 5.0.77
MySqli Client API library version 5.0.77

We saw notihing out of the ordinary, only that there are more connection than usual, lots of them to the forum, and what we could not recognize is this:

      localhost.localdomain:47289 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:43601 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:43699 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:47276 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:43634 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:43612 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:43628 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:43803 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0
      localhost.localdomain:43714 localhost.localdomaiomain TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0

I don't know what they are... everything else seems to be normal...

Okay, this is creeping me out - I see about 1500-2500 of these: root@wherever:# netstat Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 0 0 localhost:

thank you for your information, we are looking into it right now. It seems to be the same problem... let's hope it is.
