[Forum] is it just me?

....or is it just very annoying difficult to simply modify a simple colour or other easy style operations in my forum?

I just bought 4.0.8 but had the same trouble last time I bought a vBulletin forum.

for example...
In style manager (where you should think that you could edit the style) this is said:

The following style options are obsolete and are available here for reference purposes only.
Style options such as these can now be edited in the Style Variable Editor.


Why are the option there if its obsolete? .- where can't i decide to change the width on my own forum? And where IS that Style Variable Editor??? no links anywhere

Is there just one who can tell me where I edit my style? in a normal language?

Seriously peops... when you charge this much for a forum one should think that customizing a layout should be fairly simple. Do you cooperate with the people selling styles?

Please make me happy and help me out here...

Not to sound too angry, but Im just dissappointed. And reading the forums I don't seem to be alone

They are there because many people are use to those from the 3.x series, the 4.x uses style vars.
There are a few tutorials in the blogs and cms here.
I personally like the new system over the old system.
Just takes some getting use to.

I just bought 4.0.8 but had the same trouble last time I bought a vBulletin forum.

It's not just you. I'm a novice but I had no trouble skinning my original vBulletin 3.x but we're attempting to upgrade to 4.x and I've had nothing but trouble. There are WAY too many variables and things are named so strangely. I hated all the styles the "generator" came up with. Seriously ugly. I used the stylevar system and thought I had it fixed and then we updated to 4.8 and things changed again. I quit. Thank goodness it's just my test forum. I'm still mad that I've spent so much money on a system that isn't usable (don't get me started on the CMS), but eventually I'll try again. Right now I've just let it sit and stayed with 3.8 on the live forum.
