[Forum] How to post tables in forums

When I copied content that was in a table , it was displayed this way:

    Year
    $ price

    1940
    0.25

    1950
    0.36

    1968
    0.40

    1979
    0.60

That requires enabling HTML is posts which is a security risk and something we do not recommend. If you are using HTML anyway, then what is the exact HTML code for that post?

I just noticed that many site , their "wyswyg" is complete . Any thing you copy and past , it will go as is. Do they ignore this security issue

Sample : yahoo mail , where you can copy and past any thing and it will be the same like the original

We can't speak for sites that use their own or other software I'm afraid

Does the security risk still apply, if the table were put into a thread that is locked?

It's not the post itself that's the security risk, it's the allowing users to post HTML that's the risk

Thanks Trevor... If a user that does not have access to post HTML replies with quote to a post with HTML, what happens? I'm hoping it strips the HTML.

Now how the user can copy and paste and get his post look well formatted ( if the original was a table ) ?
The sample I showed at the start is table of 2 columns , but when posted in vbulletin , the result is one column ?

Table formatting appears to be stripped, when posted. If the thread is locked from user input or posting, sounds like you can use HTML as noted above. Otherwise, a quick fix is to take a snapshot and save as .jpg and post inline.

The default vBulletin HTML permission is by forum. I use a mod that allows HTML permission by usergroup. Sure love it.

Does the usergroup mod strip html from quoted responses? Perhaps this is the answer for helal_ph as well

Here's the mod: PERMISSION BY USERGROUP

I'm 99% certain it will not parse HTML in a quote, but what if it did? Can't see a situation where that would be a problem.
