When you subscribe to a Blog, you get two notification options:

- Through Control Panel only
- Instant Email Notification

Make sure you choose the latter to be notified.

but hey can settings be set to send out alerts when a new blog was posted for blogs you sign up for? i have a subscribe to blog but it ads a mod key to my header for easy access but does not alert me to new blogs

You can only promote posts to a Blog Entry, not threads. Any reponses in a thread will not be moved.

You can certainly edit the Blog templates to add a Sponsor's logo at the top of the pages or use the built in Ad Manager to add an 'advert' to the Blogs.
