First of all I inherited this job from the previous person who know very little about computers, so if any changes have been made I am completely at a loss to know where or when they changed any thing in vBulletin.
I have never done much with vBulletin other then post on forums where it is used. I understand a lot of HTML and codeing but vBulletin is new to me so bear with me.
Most of the stuff that the previous employee did on our other systems are a patch work mess. They just put band-aids on every thing and left the mess alone creating a giant mess that I am trying to clean up, very slowly I might add.
Now that being said, I was trying to update the form version (3.8.something I should have wrote it down before I started, trying to find the exact version right now) to the newest version of that I have access to with our license (v4.0.4).
I was able to do every thing per-instruction from the vBulletin upgrade instruction manul pages. The problem came when I tried to log in under the admin account. For some reason I could get the admin log in panel to open but when I try to log in I get an error message telling me that there is an error in line 41 of the Login.php I don't understand why I even opened the login.php and had a look there isn't any thing in the login.php that is out of order.
The site its self wasn't working right either was getting similar line errors (different numbers) for every PHP part of the site. I did get the site to partialy load a few times but the formatting and every thing else was a mess, and l couldn't get links to work correctly.
Any ideas as to what went wrong? and how to fix it? I can't find any one with the same problem.
I am currently re-setting to the previous version of the forums, as I type this. I am going to have to hold up working on the site tell next Monday due to scheduling conflicts the rest of the week at work. But if any one has any suggestions for a work around I would REALLY appreciate the help.
