Periods in friendly URLs causing problems with mod_security

    That is an issue with mod_Security directly, If you submit it as a bug report or feature request you'll get further.

    You might need to turn your mod_Security better, you might want to even disable it for your vBulletin folder, or at least that rule.

  • Periods in friendly URLs causing problems with mod_security

    We have mod_security installed on our forum frontend servers and have run into a problem with friendly URLs and threads that have a period in the title:

    We are using Advanced Friendly URLs of the form:
    showthread.php/1234-Thread-Title

    This can result in URLs being generated such as:

    http://www.example.com/showthread.php/100-The-Sample-Thread./page38
    The thread title in this example is 'The Sample Thread.' (note the period). The trailing period means the URLs are being blocked by mod_security, possibly because they're followed by a forward slash. Is it possible to filter out periods from thread subjects when creating friendly URLs?
