  • [Forum] display tables in posts

My Google-fu is weak. I keep getting lost in sql tables...

Is there code (or add-on) to format data in a post as a table? I run a sports board and folks want to post stats now and then. They're ugly (the tables, not the folks).

As best as I can tell, vB strips extra spaces and tabs so there's no way to present data in columns - unless you use the code tag.

Does anyone know of any way to present a table? In an ideal world, it would parse an excel paste into a table in a post, but pretty much any way to pull it off without the code tag would be welcome. I look every few months, so far without success...

    thanks,

I made a mod that allows specific usergroups to post in HTML without enabling it for an entire forum.. its in my signature.

It doesn't seem to work on 4.0.7, something changed. Should work in 4.0.8 tho, when thats released.

Not sure if its available for 4.0 (although the old mod may still work in 4.0), but there is a BBCode hack over on vb.org that allows you to build a table using BBCode. It takes a little bit to figure it out, but once you do, it works quite well.

          hello

in order to create a table, you must have HTML posting permission

this is not a permission that you can enable it from your usergroup permissions by default

          but you can install this
          http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=229035

then post HTML as you want

you may know that to create tables, you can use MS Front page to create and customize the table , copy the code to to your post

I prefer if you create a user and put it in a usergroup then give that usergroup the HTML permission (via the hack)

this is better than enable the HTML for you and may affect your old and future posts

you may need to know that if you uninstalled the hack in someday , your HTML post will not be parsed

for suite users, the cms has a built-in table bbcode for articles.

further more they can make use of the ability to create Static HTML articles

          see you
