  • [Forum] Embedd video in forum so iPad users can watch?

    Hi,

I wonder if there is a way to embedd video so iPad/iPhone users can watch it? Ive tried the "insert video" button on Vimeo and Youtube. No one shows up on the iPad/iPhone.

I don't have any problems watching inserted video on my iPad. Do you have a link?

I don't know about Ipad, but it does not seem to work on Iphone. We are getting in the habit of dropping the URL in as a link and as a video. Iphone users click on the link.

Works fine on my iPod Touch which is basically an iPhone without the phone. As Wayne said, what's the link?

I can see what you mean here. I'll have to investigate.

Same for us on my iPhone. I upgraded our site to 4.6 I think it is which gives us the option to embed YouTube videos and it works fine on the site with a pc. If you go on the site via iphone the embedded videos don't show up. It's not the iPhone because I can go to other sites and they work just fine.

My forum users (and myself) are unable to view media links on iPad and iPhone too. Videos just show up as a blank space.

Same here - the iPad doesn't support Flash but vbulletin uses youtube's flash interface. I think Youtube has html5 video already.

So youtube threads usually just show an empty chunk of space, not even a warning there is a video missing.

YouTube's HTML5 player isn't ready for prime time yet... info on the project is here:
                      http://apiblog.youtube.com/2010/07/n...be-videos.html

The problem is with Apple not allowing flash most video embeds these days just won't work. Vimeo is the only major site I know of with a working player on iPod/iPad/iPhone... I released a BB Code for it on vbulletin.org - but the built in video bb code still uses the old flash player.
