[Forum] resetting the PM Count

After clearing out some private messages I have incorrect PM counts now.

For instance, my account has an empty inbox/sent box etc, yet reads "3,583" messages.

I have emptied the PM tables on the db already, just need to know how to reset this count.

I certainly did, there was a tonne of PM spam, its a long story....

anyways - the build_pm_counters() function - do tell, how/where do I run this?

Sorry, the function will not help you, because it's only for the "current user" and not for everybody

ok, somebody, what do I need to do to reset everybody's PM qty counters?

If you send out a PM to all members and ask them to delete it, this will reset that member's count to the correct values.

In future, rather than deleting them manually, use this add-on from vBulletin.org (developed for 3.x but still works in 4.x): http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=179879

I believe running the cron job for that add-on manually may also recalculate the counts - not certain though.
