  • [Forum] Moderators

    Hi,

    Just a few Q's please...

    1: Do Moderators have ability to access a Control panel like Super mods do?

    2: Rather than add moderators to each forum separately by name. Is there a way to make a group of forums that the moderator will become a mod of?

    3: Does the moderator usergroup's permissions just act like any other group but will not permit any extra access to features?
    So am I better off setting the Usergroup permissions to the same as Registered member and then setting what access the moderator has at the time they are added as a moderator?

    Hope i'm thinking on the right lines here?

    I will try to answer your questions

    1. Moderators and Super Moderators have access to the Moderator Control Panel.

    2. Yep, upon installation of vBulletin, there are 2 moderator groups: Moderators and Super Moderators

    3. You just move the user to the moderator's usergroup. It's all setup.

      I'll try to answer your questions accurately

      1. Yes. Super Moderators can access both the AdminCP and ModCP. Moderators can access ModCP.

      2. No. There's no way to make a 'group' of forums for the Moderator to be a mod of.

      3. Moderator Usergroup permissions are set by the Admin of the site. They generally would have higher permissions than a user, because otherwise they wouldn't have access to moderation tools.

        Thanks.

        I see how S.Mod works as that shows the MOD link... but when I add a user as Moderator... no MOD link appears at the bottom left. Even if I add the member as a Mod to a forum area... still no MOD link.

          A moderator can be assigned individually to a section category, or a forum. Super moderators are essentially moderators but with additional permissions that the administrator has assigned in the Usergroup and Forum Permissons, and may have moderator permissions forum-wide.

            The user needs to be a member of the Moderator user group.

                Is the user a primary or secondary member of the Moderator usergroup? I don't think this should affect the outcome, but it might.

                  Super Moderators cannot access the admincp unless they have The is this usergroup an administrator permission.

                  A moderator does nto need to be part of a specific usergroup.

                    I believe we're talking about the Moderators' Control Panel.

                        Is the user a primary or secondary member of the usergroup? If the latter, test to see what happens when the user is a primary member. Additionally, the user might want to log out, then back in to ensure that the changes to his/her account have fully set in.

                          The ModCP link will only show for super moderators and up.

                              Interesting - I haven't been a mod in a very long time :/

                              OP, if you still want it to show, try this:

                              <if condition="$show['modcplink']">

                              with

                              <if condition="can_moderate()">
