  • [Forum] How Do I Not Show BBCode in Posting a New Thread or Reply

After the upgrade to 4.0.5, anytime you click the font color changer (for when you post threads or replies), BBCode pops up showing an RGB code. How do you eliminate this?

What browser are you using? I think there is a bug regarding this when using... chrome? Perhaps Safari and/or Opera also? (Sorry, I just use firefox so it doesn't affect me and I can't remember which browsers it was.)

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

Is it working OK on here (vb.com)?

        Try this:
Create a new style with no parent:
        • Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style
        • Parent Style: No Parent Style
        • Title: Default vBulletin
        • Allow User Selection: Yes
        • Save

Then browse the site using that totally default vbulletin style - do you still have the same problem?

It's working OK here on Vbulletin.com. That's how I noticed the issue.

And, I tried the new style, no luck

So it works here but not on your site. Then, basically you want to do the following (what we would ask you to do if you put in a support ticket):

First reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

            Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

            define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

Do you have the same problem?
