Hello,

I'm running VB4 and wondering how to allow registered users to upload pictures from there hard drive? At the moment they can only supply a URL to their picture.

Choose one of the options:

Advanced Insert Image Popup - Enable
Enabling this option will turn on the Advanced Insert Image Dialog, which will allow users to insert images from the computer, or retrieve images referenced from a URL and store them locally. Disabling this option will display the legacy from URL attachment dialog.

That option set to "Yes" already. The only one can insert images from is me (Admin). Not even Moderators can upload pictures from their hard drives.

You need to click on the paperclip icon.

The feature you are requesting is already built into vBulletin since vBulletin 2.0. Please refer to the User Manual.

I have looked in the user manual with no luck. What section should I be looking in?
I noticed that if I click the insert image icon here that I get the option to upload from computer or from url. this is what I want my registered users to be able to do.

I never resolved the issue. I MUST be possible as when I click the Image icon here, I can choose between URL or Computer.

I am with you Dave. I have even checked all my users group permissions and found nothing there either.
Would someone check into this and give us some good help.

Thanks to Lynne and Zachery from the vBulletin tean I have solved this problem.
I have the message posting and interface opitins set like this, full editor, ouick editor, and quick edit set to enable standard & WYSIWYG controls. Advanced Insert Image Popup - Enable, Asset Manager - Enable, yes, flash upload Asset Manager - Assets per Page 10
If you're using Firefox or IE, and you have your profile set on that user to use the WYSIWYG editor, you will get URL and Upload.
I am not talking about the settings you set as the admin (althought those need to be on also), I am talking about as a user going to the Settings link > General Settings > Message Editor Interface. Every user can set that however they want and if they don't have it set to WYSIWYG, or they don't click the toggle button in the reply to change it to that, then they won't be using the WYSIWYG and won't get both options.
You will need to go to your admin CP and settings/options/users registration options/ and look for default registrations options and set options (message editor interface) to show enhanced (WYSIWYG) editor toolbar. This will let any new users that register have this feature.
if you you have the time you can edit each users profile to change their setting.

how does this get turned off ?? It's on and going well, I upgrade to 4.1 and now it's off again. When I say off, It is per user as the main settings are all on and per the post above. Why then, does the individual users setting default back to having it set to URL only??

this is one of the more annoying things with VB settings changing upon an update. I would like to set things and not have them change. How do we make that happen in VB?

I checked all the settings in the admincp and they are all on and checked and all that per the list mentioned above in this thread. As an admin, how the hell does this get changed ?
Myself and another admin both could not use the insert image unless we used a URL.
