Location of the SiteMap files?

I thought the sitemap stuff had to reside in the root of a site? Is it allowable to have the sitemap information that vB 4 generates in a sub-folder such as ./sitemap?Neal Culiner

That's it. Nothing left to be done. The submissions will be made automatically.
If you have a Google Webmaster Tools account, go check whether your sitemap has been submitted. If you look Site Configuration -> Sitemaps you will see a list of submitted sitemaps. You may have to click "Show Submissions: All" on the right of the page, above the list of sitemaps. You should see "forum/xmlsitemap.php" listed once your forum submits the list to Google.

I also am getting an error no matter how I try to save a site map I get error :You did not enter a valid value for this setting.
My site files and forum are setup in my root folder you know the www or Public Html folder...I have no clue. I am attempting to set it to save the sitemap so Google will index my site.
Please advise in English..lol

And that brings me to the other post...
I need a little more information about permission 777 like where are you even able to choose that? And what are you talking about?
lol
Ok sometimes I am totally clueless. Sorry
And which is it 777 which I see you wrote or 755 that I see a couple post above that?\
See how easy this really gets screwed up and confusing?

Ok I will try that so Let me see if I got this right...
Oh and thanks also...
So I go into my FTP program and set up 0777 permission for a root folder... ( I was just going to save to / Then whatever the Board should save the file as.
Then I should be able to go into VB control panel and add the / to file path and that should be it?

Ok what I have done...
since as I mentioned my site is root of html
I have granted 777 to the folder, is this ok? I did this in my CPanel for my site.
Next I went to the forum admin cp then tried to paste this in for the location...
/public_html/store_sitemap
first I tried it with just /public_html then received an error so I tried as I listed above, no matter what I attempt to place in I get the same error
Error:You did not enter a valid value for this setting.
