  • [CMS] Strange Permission Error when trying to edit an article

I created 3 articles today. When I went back to edit the last one I created, I got a 403 page with the below text. I can edit the other two articles, but cannot get to this one.

Can someone explain what the deal is with this, or what to look for?

You don't have permission to access /forums/content.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache mod_fcgid/2.3.5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/ Server at Port 80

One more thing. When the articles show up in the "What's New" listing of new posts/threads, the new articles appear with a gray envelope icon, and when a member clicks on the article in the new threads listings, they get the "You Do Not Have Permissions to View" error page, yet if they go to the HOME page, they can view and reply to the articles. I checked my permissions, and they all appear correct in the Admin Contraol Panel CMS settings.

One more clue. I went to the Admin area, CMS, and saw the 3 articles (these are the only articles at the present time). I clicked on the one in question and was able to edit it. However, if I select the APPLY icon and not the SAVE icon, I get the 403/404 error page. Using the SAVE icon, I have no issue.

      Very strange.

I posted a FAQ this morning , 7-08-10, that would have answered your question, but I guess vbulletin didn't like it. It has been deleted.

I would suggest that you use the search to find your answer looking for one of my posts, but ah, you wouldn't be able to find anything, because search doesn't work when you use it with member name, unless, of course you know the super secret, methodology...........

Search Doesn't work properly, unless you do this.....

Your answer about CMS permission errors is in this thread...... along with how to unfix the fix

How to separate CMS directory from your forum directory (I don't know if it works, I'm just providing the link)

Since vbulletin doesn't want this info in a FAQ, I guess, I'll just keep copying and pasting this post for you folks...........

This post can now be found in the following threads.......
