[Forum] How do I change styles for 4.0.4?

I feel like an idiot but I'm really confused as to how to change basic style options for the forum I just installed. I've noticed that "main css" is obsolete and read somewhere that we now need to go to "stylevars". So I did that and tried to change the body_background under "commons" and nothing changed after I saved.

Where do I go to change the styles? Or is there anywhere I can just enter in the css I want that will override what's already set?

Thanks, however, that solution didn't work for me and it looks like others are still having the same problem in that thread as well.

Is this bug being worked on? I have a really big project to get finished and I can't even change the simplest thing like the background color.

I just downgraded to 4.0.3 and I still can't change the styles. Can somebody please help me?

Is there a bug in 4.0.3 too?

-edit- I just tried typing in "black" in body_background and the background for the forum turned black. However, I want the background for "html" to turn black. Also, how do I type in a hex code?? I type in the hex code, press enter, and it comes out as transparent. This is quite frustrating.
